Short Term Goals
To run a half marathon…barefooted. (Yes I said it even though Ive never been a runner) To continue to read more and more books. Reading reminds me to slow down once in a while and challenges me to continue to learn and self-improve. Id also like to journalize the events of my family’s escape to this country. Thats one story that Id like to continue to pass down my family generation after generation. To grow ITF and continue to grow the relationships that I have with the people within its community. The members and the co-workers all make it so fun and worth while!
Hobbies
I went snowboarding for the first time this year and cant wait to get back on a mountain! The powder snow makes falling not quite so bad. Who wants to take a trip?! I enjoy mountain biking, anything MMA related especially the boxing, kickboxing and jiu jitsu side of the sport. Cooking is probably my second favorite passion and usually once a week I will try to eat until Im absolutely miserable.
Profession
Crossfit Coach, Director of Training
Favorite Quotation
“dont let your victories go to your head or your failures go to your heart”
Bio
I was born in South Vietnam where my parents and I fled from in search of better opportunities and quality of life after the fall of Saigon. With hopes of the American Dream, we set sail into the South China Sea in the dark of the night. (the story of our escape is one that Im still amazed by and left feeling so blessed and grateful. If you ever want to hear it, just let me know. We will grab dinner together!) We finally made it to Mobile, AL where my two younger sisters and parents still reside. After graduating in Excersise Science/Sports Medicinge from the Univ of South Alabama, I ventured north to Birmingham and now call it home. Helping others through fitness/coaching began early for me with my fighting career in my teens and early 20s, then onto my college years as an athletic trainer for 2 colleges, and then onto massage therapy school where I specialized in Sports Massage and eventually migrated to a career as a trainer/coach here in Birmingham for the past 9 years. Ive been told that if you do what you love, it never feels like work. Teaching Crossfit allows me to honestly say that I am a believer of that! A few years ago when I got word about the Crossfit programming, I was so anxious to try it. How bad could a 15 min workout be? After peeling myself off from the floor and looking at my poor score on the workout (Fight Gone Bad), I knew I had to really look at my own personal fitness program and all of its holes and all of my weaknesses. Needless to say, I never turned back. I immediately dove into the certifications and became the first Level2 Crossfit Coach in Alabama. Ive never witnessed, tested, or experienced a program such as Crossfit and its ability to not only create fitter athletes but to powerfully change lives. I feel blessed to be able to teach and coach it to anyone who is willing to listen.

It's as hard as it looks, but it's worth it. If you haven't tried it, now is the time.
